When the Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund for Medical Research at Yale University decided to move away from a paper-based grant application process to an online one from their February 2006 deadline, we helped them plan and implement their multi-year shift to a completely digitized format. The system we have built so far has the following capabilities:

• posting of a grant description with a deadline
• saved-session applications until deadline
• online review or offline downloads of submitted applications
• online review of submitted applications by a team of reviewers

We are currently building further reporting capabilities at each stage of the application, review and administration process into the system. The Jane Coffin Childs Memorial Fund provides graduate stipends for the furtherance of research into the causes, origin, and treatment of cancer.
